Mike King is the chief announcer for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network, and is the radio voice of all IndyCar Series events. King joined the IMS Radio Network in 1995 as a pit reporter for the Indianapolis 500. He was named chief announcer of the Indianapolis 500 and all IndyCar Series events in 1999.


A native of Winston-Salem , N.C. , King began his career in sports communications by serving as play-by-play announcer for Campbell University , his alma mater, from 1977-80. He was a sports writer and editor for several daily newspapers in North Carolina and returned to Campbell University as sports information director in 1981-82.


He embarked on a career in television in 1982, first working for the CBS affiliate in Greenville , N.C. He moved to Terre Haute , Ind. , in 1986 to assume the duties of sports director/producer for WTHI-10 TV.

Driver analyst

Former IndyCar Series driver Davey Hamilton returns to the IMS Radio Network booth as driver analyst. Hamilton had 22 top-10 finishes in 48 IndyCar Series starts, the last coming at Texas Motor Speedway in 2001.

Color Analyst

Dave Wilson has been the afternoon host on WIBC-1070 AM in Indianapolis since 1995. He traveled the world for 11 years as a stand-up comedian, and owns a local comedy club and restaurant. A life-long race fan, he grew up in the shadow of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Turn Announcer

In 20-plus years of broadcasting, Indiana native Mark Jaynes has handled play-by-play for events ranging from high school championships to NCAA Tournament games.

Pit Reporters

Longtime TV and radio broadcaster Bob Jenkins returns to the network, where he held various positions from 1979-98. An ESPN anchor when the network debuted in 1979, he has two movie credits.

Kevin Lee is the host of the pre- and post-game shows for the flagship station of the Indiana Pacers and the Indianapolis Colts.

Special Assignment Reporter

Kevin Olson, a two-time USAC National Midget racing champion (1982, '87), was inducted into the USAC National Midget Hall of Fame in 1997. He also was a five-time Badger Midget Racing Association champion and was a member of the USA team that won the International Championship Series.
